Walls Of Jerusalem, Tasmania

$2,500.00

Raksmei Keo, has painted a series of Australian landscapes as she likes to explore the world and enjoy its varied environments and terrains. However, due to lockdowns in Victoria, Raksmei found herself restricted and her freedom to travel was no longer there. In this series of paintings, Raksmei has conveyed her experience in isolation by depicting her feelings of loneliness, frustration and hope, and using shapes that create a sense of relaxation and flow. The colour palette she uses expresses the pristine and beautiful qualities of the world as seen by Raksmei, prior to lockdown. These colour choices also create a feeling of excitement when we all have the freedom to travel again.

Artist Bio

Raksmei Keo is a Melbourne-based emerging artist, who completed a Diploma in Visual Arts at the Northern College of the Arts and Technology in 2021. Before turning to art full-time, Rushy spent many years as a Medical Research Assistant.
Raksmei enjoys exploring nature and its varied environments and terrains, as reflected in this diptych of Australian landscapes, each painted on a dual canvas. Influenced by Georgia O’Keeffe, Raksmei’s simplified shapes and jewel-like palette evoke the stillness and pristine permanence of the spectacular places she has visited.
