This piece is decorated using coloured slip,applied using a pallet knife, fired and then a black slip is brushed on and then washed off.The piece is second fired, to a higher temperature ,which intensifies the colours.

Artist Bio
John has been working professionally with clay for over 30 years. He studied Fine Arts – Ceramics at Bendigo in the 80’s.
His landscape works are constructed using a variety of methods : wheel thrown, joined and altered or hand built using a variety of clays. The clay is used as a surface to be decorated , using coloured slips, oxides and terra sigillata.
