Artist Bio
Deirdre Hassed has worked professionally as a calligrapher for over 30 years, both in Australia and New Zealand, since her initial training at Roehampton Institute, London, in the 1980s.
Traditional hand-produced calligraphic artworks have been commissioned by City Councils, Government House, The Federal Court, Churches, picture framers, wineries…. to name a few.
More contemporary creative works, based on inspirational words are produced for exhibitions and commissions.
Deirdre has a deep interest in spiritual and philosophical teachings and draws on the writings of some of the world’s great Wisdom Traditions as a starting point for her creative artworks.
In 2017, Deirdre and her husband, Craig Hassed, publishes a book together: ‘Illuminating Wisdom: Words of Wisdom; Works of Art’ (Exisle Publishing).
