Mait’s Rest Rainforest is an incredible walk. Such an oasis from the hot summer sun for all of the senses. On this day I took the reference pic I was captivated by the light and shadows – the patterns from the tree fern fronds, layered and filtering the light above and creating beautiful cast shadows on the forest floor.

When spending time in Vic each year with her family Chantal loves regional travel – be it the countryside, bush or the coast. Having focussed on sketching on location with watercolour for many years, her shift to oil painting is bringing a renewed energy, exploration and directions to her art practice.
