Leafy Seadragon
$950.00
The Leafy Seadragon piece forms part of Brittany’s naturalist illustration series. The series showcases the unique marine life of Australia’s raw Southern coastline.
The Leafy Seadragon is the lesser-known but equally as beautiful cousin of the Weedy Seadragon. The leafy has no known predators because of its exceptional camouflage, which is used to disguise itself as a piece of seaweed or kelp. Its kelp-like protrusions act only as camouflage. Instead, it propels itself with two small, almost translucent fins on its neck and tail, appearing to move through the water like a piece of floating seaweed.

Artist Bio
Living by the sea has played a huge role in shaping my life. For as long as I can remember I’ve been fascinated by the ocean, marine life and the natural world. While I’m fascinated by all animals, I hold a special place in my heart for the marine life that inhabits the Southern Australian coastline.
Working with charcoal and pastel as my mediums of choice, I spend hours creating highly detailed pieces to represent my subjects with integrity. I aim to give viewers a close encounter with the natural world around us and reflex the rugged beauty and unique life that is found in wild places.
