Jenny
$380.00
“Jenny” was one of the first paintings in my “little people” series that depicts children running free on the beach. She is the first sunset painting I did which incorporated a figure. At the time I was experimenting with adding the vibrant colour to enhance the drama of the figures movement. The fabric in the skirt helps to give a sense of the little girl learning with how her dress moves when she does. I give all my works featuring children a name that depicts the scene and/or the character. This painting is called “Jenny” because I had as strong sense of nostalgia when painting Jenny’s face…she reminded me of Jennifer Anniston in “Friends”!

Artist Bio
I am a self-taught artist, biological scientist (by trade) and mother of two, who has lived along the Victorian surf coast most of my life. I began painting in 2015, immediately falling in love with the versatility of oil paint on canvas for mixing different textures, vibrant colour and layering. I started painting seascapes that were inspired by my favourite local beaches.
My current style evolved after entering parenthood in 2018 and tuning in to the freedom of expression of our special little people as they dance and move in such a carefree way – unfortunately, something often lost as we become older. Adding children into my seascapes has allowed me to experiment with a combination of colour and reflection to enhance the movement of the figure’s pose.
