Artist Bio
Melbourne-based multi-media artist, Emajane Fisher, has been exploring emotional processing through line.
Originally from a science background, Emajane’s work has developed in response to an extreme period of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which forced her to re-evaluate her relationship with perfectionism and (society’s obsession with) productivity.
Her work rejects the constraints of perfectionism, leaning into imperfection and abstraction through intuitive, embodied, movement.
Her pieces are a visual representation of her experiences somatically processing and integrating visceral emotions.
Her practice reflects the importance of simple pleasures and connectedness, in figuratively expressed emotions.
Emajane is self-taught, and has shown work in Melbourne-based shows and has her first solo show coming up in Brunswick, in June. Her work has seen keen interest from interior designers, and she has worked on multiple projects including bespoke installations, murals and furniture items.
