Artist Bio
Johanna Wade is a mixed media artist, and her works combine textiles, collage, inks, eco dyes, watercolours and fibre.
Her surroundings, the natural environment and exploring the possibilities of combining different creative techniques inspire her work.
Johanna has a Diploma of Visual Arts. And studied fashion design and worked in Melbourne’s fashion industry before moving to regional Victoria.
Working with textiles is a creative process she is very familiar with, but her recent studies have taken that familiarity in whole new direction.
This has included experimenting with freehand drawing in thread, using eco-dyed fabric and paper as foundation pieces, and combining mixed media to create works and tell stories.
She’s exhibited work in CrossXpollinatioN at the Colac Otway Performing Arts and Cultural Centre, and as part of the Colac Otway Arts Trail in 2022.
