Interconnectedness

$400.00

The Tree of Life pendant has been worn by people worldwide for centuries; as have textiles. Expressing an object usually made of metal and leather in textiles, with techniques handed down the generations, is a fitting homage to Interconnectedness and a celebration of textiles. Using raw (sheep fleece) and manufactured materials (Tencel thread and wool/silk fabric), the piece connects the early sources of fibre to the modern, eco- friendly options.
The fleece was spun then plaited to create an impression of a leather thong. Needlework enhanced the button and clasp.
Tapestry weaving of modern thread replicated the metal pendant.
