Artist Bio
Artist Ria Kenna – grew up inland, in country New South Wales and has only recently moved to Apollo Bay. She is a self-taught and passionate artist who in the past 10 years since beginning to paint usually has a number of canvases in the making at any one time. Her inspiration is the miracle and richness of life but primarily it is simplicity that draws her in. There is a purity in simplicity where just a few parts can come together to create a sublime whole. Art does not have to be complex to evoke a desirable response. On the contrary, simplicity has a way of speaking that complexity loses in the detail. Art has the power to arouse a symbiotic resonance of calm in the viewer that says all is well with the world. She works in many different mediums but leans towards gouache and acrylic for richness of colour and quick results. Oil is used when time is not an issue and when depth and realism are called for.
