A lifestyle change has allowed me to travel extensively within Australia. Going on road trips to remote areas where I have had the time to explore and experience landscapes similar to those I have often imagined.
The painting ‘Span’ was created after taking many coastal walks and noticing the figurative nature of trees and detached branches emerging from the sand. While most are no longer living they often feel as though they have something to say as they stretch out and take ownership of the environment they exist in.

Artist Bio
Apollo Bay artist Joanne Forrest has been painting in oils ever since her introduction to the medium 30 years ago. A love for landscape, both viewed and imagined, provides the subject matter for works that have a surreal quality and a sense of ‘otherworldliness’. Works are composed using richly applied brushstrokes with strong lighting effects on large canvases that aim to absorb the viewer into the landscape.
